Marketing

The key to marketing an event is to find out your target audience. This is a very significant factor to promoting your gig because there’s no point making flyers and invitations to a rock concert when your target audience are teenage girls who like pop music. You need to understand who you’re inviting to attend your concert and what they would like to see performed. Once you know this, you will have a clearer idea of how to market your concert the best way possible.

Important things to know about your target audience:

What their preferred genre of music is

Their age
Would they be willing to pay for your concert?
What time would suit them best?

Give yourself enough time to thoroughly promote your gig:

Marketing is so important when putting on an event, it affects every other aspect included in the making of your event, such as ticketing for example. Therefore; you need enough time to properly market your concert. Ideas such as timelines are often an effective way to keep track and manage your time so that you don’t spend too long on one thing and only advertise your event the week before.

Set yourself a budget to stick to:

It may be the case that when marketing your event, you do not need any money however if you do need to spend money then ensure you set a reasonable budget and stick to it!

Find multiple ways to advertise your event:

Not everything has to be on social media, although this may be an easy option to take, it doesn’t mean it always the most effective. Another thing to remember is not to just advertise in one way, think about what your target audience will respond to most, and if they are a variety of ages then use multiple ways to advertise to ensure that everyone is made aware. Different ways to promote your concert could include:

Social media posts- twitter?
Facebook groups- (if you want a more specific audience)
Posters/ flyers
Invitations- a more personal advertisement
Adverts online- you’d need to set a budget for this
